I'm putting my best foot forward for the New Year.
Can you believe my boots have worn out... Hit the dust... , not worth a crumpet... gone to the dogs. Can you understand my lingo..
Well to tell it to you straight, they are worn out. Not worth a butchers hook.
Every time Granny picked me up she would get black on her shirt.
The soles were cracked, and letting the water in when I jumped in puddles.
I had plain and simply worn them out.
Too much running and climbing trees and camping and kicking stones.
SO
new boot were a necessity.
I really liked my old boots, they were comfortable, They had walked where ever I wanted to walk, They just felt right. Granny says they MUST go in the bin.
I asked if I could keep them just encase my new boots did not take me where I wanted to go. Or what if they hurt? Or what if they got smelly? Or what if I got a blister?
Granny says" Out they go."
She recons that she does not want any more black on her clothes, or the chairs, or on the bed.
So here I am in my new boots. They came all the way from Sydney.
Yep!!! I can walk in them, now I am going outside to see if I can run in them.
I hope they take me to lots of interesting places this year.
Right now... I want them to take me to the honey and peanut butter on toast, with warm milk that is on the table.
See you all next week and just let me know if you have new shoes.
Hugs Wilbur
This Lorikeet was with many others in Granny's tree. She tried to take it with her new camera. I wish you could hear them squabbling in the tree.
The picture is for all my dear friends and followers
My thought for the day.
" Friendship is like planting trees, it needs attention and care at first, so when it flowers it will provide shade in life."
Oh I say! your new boots are magnificent! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my Wilbur! What a BEAUTIFUL new shoes you have!!! They will bring you wherever you want to go and they look so comfortable! Be proud! You look great with those shoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the picture of the Lorikeet (we call them papegaai and say Lorre to them very often). What a beautiful country you live in you lucky bear!

ReplyDeleteHi Wilbur,
ReplyDeleteGee, your new shoes look great on you, and beary comfy too. Are they slip-ons? That means it won't take so long to lace and tie them up. (o: More time for adventures.
Will you be bringing them to camp? The Lorikeet is bee-u-tee-ful.
Heaps of Hugs

The perfect boots for exploring and playing, and they look great on you Wilbur! Thank you for the lovely picture, what a stunning bird!!!
ReplyDeleteYour old shoes may rest in peace... you're looking great with your new ones and we bet they will become good buddies real soon. Nevertheless we will have to get used to seeing you with these new ones... The photo of the Lori really made us smile - having wild parrots in our garden trees would be some thing for sure.

Josephine

Dearest Kay,

Sending you hugs and enjoy your summer!

In the bin!!! oh no Wilbur my heart bleats for you - I've got lots of shoes like that, you know the sort "should have been binned" but just can't quite muster the courage to do it. Your new shoes look very stylish with a touch of country and just maybe Granny won't get black everywhere. Hope your week goes well and that peanut butter makes the "Specials List" at your local supermart.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you Kay and Wilbur and hope your year is off to a great start.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have the new boots - hope you get to walk in lots of fun places.
Enjoy the week
hugs
Carolyn
Dear WIlbur, having new great shoes you have to get a new scarf to match them and be the most stylish bear in the neighbourhood :)
ReplyDeleteI like your new boots and I hope they work well for you. I am most impressed with the Lorikeet. So colorful and different from the birds in our back yard!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Great boots, Wilbur! Are they Blundstones? Grandad M says he could use your help with weed spraying on the property, now that you've got sturdy boots to climb the slopes with the hose! Maybe you could plant memorial flowers in your old boots, and keep them with you always.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs from Kayzy's Critters :0)
Wilbur you really nailed it on all the truly important things about well loved boots - and then Dear Granny got you such a Special Pair of New Ones - YeP, She's Da BesTesT! Congratulations! ~ LuV, TiGGy
